Arsonist destroys €180,000 worth of luxury cars at Limassol dealership

An arsonist smashed through a car dealership’s glass front and set fire to the interior in central Limassol early Sunday morning, completely destroying two luxury vehicles worth a combined €180,000.

The attack on the Romanian-owned showroom occurred around 4:15 am, according to police. The perpetrator broke the glass display, doused the interior with flammable material and set it ablaze, causing extensive damage.

Fire services attended the scene and extinguished the blaze at the closed exhibition space.

Costas Michael, head of Limassol CID, said preliminary examinations confirmed the fire was set maliciously using flammable material. An unknown perpetrator smashed the shop’s glass display, poured flammable substance throughout the interior space and then ignited it.

The fire completely destroyed two luxury cars valued at €120,000 and €60,000 respectively. Five other vehicles in the same space escaped damage. Damage to the premises has not yet been assessed.

Limassol CID continues investigations and is evaluating witness material to solve the case.

The 37-year-old shop owner told police he does not suspect any individual and has no disputes with anyone, according to Philenews sources.
