Aircraft deployed to combat Paphos village fire

A fire erupted in dry grass and wild vegetation northeast of Kelokedara village in Paphos.

The Forest Department deployed one fire engine to support operations, whilst the Game and Fauna Service contributed a portable firefighting unit to containment efforts.

Two aircraft conducted water drops to suppress the blaze, which does not threaten the village’s residential area.

Firefighting crews worked to achieve complete extinguishment as quickly as possible to prevent adverse developments caused by strong winds affecting the region.

Authorities prioritised rapid containment to prevent the fire from reaching populated areas or spreading to additional vegetation zones.

The cause of the fire will be investigated at a later stage, according to fire service officials.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, and residential areas remain secure from the blaze.
