Airbnb use on the rise in Cyprus

Cyprus has surpassed 6,700 in accommodations, while in beds it has exceeded 30,000 in self-catering accommodations (Airbnb).

A new trend in Cyprus is the use of self-catering accommodations by tourists (Airbnb), stated the Tourism Officer of the Ministry of Tourism, Marios Tsianakas, to the Cyprus News Agency, noting that there has been an increase in their number in recent years.

“We have surpassed 6,700 in accommodations, and in beds, we exceed 30,000,” he said.

It’s a trend, he stressed, that is also developing in Europe among the younger generations who wish to plan their travels more flexibly alongside lower accommodation costs.

It’s a market, he added, that combines cheap flights with relatively lower accommodation prices.

“They have a good contribution to the local economy as users of these accommodations utilize various services, such as restaurants, transportation, car rentals, etc.,” he added.
