Aid to Gaza from Cyprus unloaded at Ashdod port

Aid shipped through Cyprus’s Amalthea scheme destined for Palestinians in Gaza has been unloaded at Ashdod port, with the process completed smoothly on Tuesday and Wednesday.

All necessary steps are being taken according to plan for further transport of the 1,200-tonne cargo to a specific Gaza crossing point, coordinated with all relevant authorities.

The vessel remains at Ashdod port to transport 52 empty containers that contained the pre-screened aid from Cyprus back to Limassol for future use.

The Amalthea initiative is Cyprus’s humanitarian corridor facilitating aid delivery to Gaza’s civilian population.
