The British High Commission and British Council Cyprus will host a UK Pavilion at the 4th Youth Tech Festival in Limassol on 7 February, showcasing British expertise in technology, education and online safety.
The Pavilion, hosted at The Warehouse by IT Quarter, will form part of the festival’s focus on future skills, digital innovation and education, with participation from government officials, education providers and technology organisations from Cyprus and the United Kingdom.
The festival will open with addresses by Athena Michaelidou, Cyprus Minister of Education, Sport and Youth; Michael Tatham, British High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus; Marios Tannousis, chief executive of Invest Cyprus; and George Karageorgos of Freedom24.
A central event of the programme is the Educational Experience Summit, featuring a panel discussion titled The future of education: trends and predictions for 2026–2027. The panel brings together Anastasia Andritsou of the British Council, Ayumi Moore Aoki of Women in Tech Global and Christina Shailas of Gear Education to examine the impact of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, STEAM education and soft skills development on learning.
The programme will continue with “Age of AI – Let’s Talk Safety”, featuring Dr Christina Ioannou, Senior Educational Psychologist at the Ministry of Education; Andreas Constantinides, Managed Services Director at Odyssey Cybersecurity; and Jane Houng, Founder and Chair of Trustees at Becky’s Button. The session will focus on online risks, cybersecurity and digital wellbeing.
From 10:00 to 18:00, visitors can explore the UK Universities Exhibition & Tech Pavilion, meet representatives from more than 40 UK universities, and receive guidance on study options, applications, scholarships and career pathways. From 11:00 to 17:00, the Pavilion stage will host fireside chats and presentations on UK education and future careers, delivered by university representatives and sector stakeholders.
Across the Pavilion, visitors will encounter a range of interactive technology zones designed to inspire curiosity and hands‑on learning. The VR Stations immerse participants in digital environments that highlight major UK technological milestones and the UK’s world‑renowned education system. The Micro:bit Educational Station invites younger visitors to engage in an interactive quiz on UK technology, fostering creativity and digital awareness. The Immersive Red Telephone Booth offers a playful and memorable virtual trip to London.
At the heart of the Pavilion is “Liz”, the British High Commission’s AI Agent. Liz interacts with visitors in real time, offering information on UK innovation, Study UK pathways, online safety and the UK–Cyprus partnership. Additional highlights include the UK Space Agency Showcase, presenting its satellite missions; Skytrek Business & Technology Solutions, offering kinetic demonstrations and insights into careers in the space sector. The Internet Watch Foundation will demonstrate their “Think Before You Share” awareness campaign, and visitors aged 10–18 can also participate in an online safety card game delivered by Becky’s Button Charity, where winners receive a personal attack alarm.
Throughout the day, visitors can take part in various competitions, including the completion of the Gamified UK Pavilion Experience for a Marley Get Together Duo speaker and the UK Universities station competition for a free IELTS exam.; The first competition has already been launch, providing the chance to become “High Commissioner for a Day” by pre‑registering to attend the UK Education Exhibition.
A parallel UK Education Exhibition will be held in Nicosia on 8 February at Hilton Nicosia.
