A total of 2254 applications have been submitted for the subsidy scheme for purchasing electric vehicles, half of which concern the purchase of new zero-emission Carbon Dioxide (CO2) vehicles.
According to the update provided to the media by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the increased interest shown by our fellow citizens in the subsidy schemes for purchasing electric vehicles announced by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works is tangible evidence of the feasible acceleration of our country’s green transition, particularly in electrification. Specifically, as of this morning, a total of 2254 applications have been submitted since the application process opened on Saturday.
- 1187 applications are for the purchase of new zero-emission Carbon Dioxide (CO2) vehicles.
- 333 applications for the withdrawal and replacement with a new low-emission CO2 vehicle.
- 60 applications for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle for large families. It is worth mentioning that all 60 available applications were exhausted within 48 hours.
- 34 applications for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle for recipients of disability vehicles.
- 104 applications for the purchase of a used zero-emission CO2 vehicle for private use, also exhausting the available applications.
There is also significant interest from professional categories, as all 4 grants for the purchase of new category N2 electric vehicles (commercial vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 3,500 kilograms but not exceeding 12,000 kilograms) and the 2 grants for the purchase of new category M2 electric vehicles (small buses with more than eight seating positions) have been exhausted.
The application process is conducted online for all grant categories on the Road Transport Department website from February 17, 2024, until October 11, 2024, or until the exhaustion of grants for each category, whichever comes first.
