In a press conference held at the Char. Pilakoutas Heritage on Friday, November 3, the organization of this year’s Race for the Cure in Cyprus was officially announced. The Race for the Cure is the largest sporting event promoting women’s health in Europe.
For the eighth consecutive year, the Pilakoutas Group, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and its support in the fight against breast cancer, has reaffirmed its commitment to Europa Donna Cyprus by becoming the gold sponsor of Race for the Cure Cyprus
The primary goal of this event is to inform and raise awareness about breast cancer.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Klelia Pilakouta Christoforou, Head of Business Development at the Pilakoutas Group, highlighted their long-standing partnership with Europa Donna Cyprus.
She stated, “By supporting initiatives like Race for Cure Cyprus, we strengthen our collective commitment to a better future in every aspect.” Ms. Pilakouta emphasised their collaborative efforts with Europa Donna Cyprus to provide accessible, comprehensive support and care for those affected by this disease.
She also stressed the importance of promoting a culture of awareness that empowers individuals to take responsibility for their health.
Mary Perdiou, President of the Board of Directors of Europa Donna Cyprus, spoke about the history of Race for the Cure and urged people to participate in this leading awareness event.
She said, “People’s participation is the driving force behind our mission, facilitating access to information, prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and free healthcare for all patients. It also helps improve the quality of life and eliminates discrimination against cancer patients.”
Marios Charalambides, the Executive Director of Europa Donna Cyprus, highlighted the significance of exercise as a primary means of cancer prevention. He praised the event for sending multiple messages of support and hope.
Charalambides expressed his heartfelt gratitude to other sponsors and supporters of the event and to the exceptional and dedicated team of Europa Donna Cyprus for their continuous, substantial efforts to realise the organization’s multifaceted mission.
Race for the Cure, the largest sports event promoting breast cancer awareness, is a celebration of courage, hope, strength, and life, taking place in 150 cities worldwide, with over one million participants in total.
In Cyprus, Race for the Cure is organized by Europa Donna Cyprus for the third consecutive year and will be held this year on Sunday, November 12, under the patronage of Athena Michaelidou, Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth.
The event will kick off at the University of Cyprus Sports Center.
