Satire, science fiction // Sophie Linnenbaum // 124 ‘ // 2022 // youth film
Paula lives in a film world, her life is a film. Her mother is an outtake and her father a main character. As unusual as it may be for her as a supporting character, she goes to a main character school to make her dreams come true and prove she deserves to be a main character. But what is it like to be a misunderstood outtake in this three-class society, what is it like to not be accompanied by an emotional soundtrack, but rather bad sound design, and to have self-doubt about your ability to be a main character creep in?
The great music, suspenseful scenes, and both humorous and sharp commentary with many parallels may be what led Artechock to describe this film as “a declaration of love for the cinema”.

Drama/Romance // Christian Petzold // 90′ // 2020
Christian Petzold gives his own interpretation of the myth of the mysterious water spirit as a modern fairy-tale in a disenchanted world. His Undine frees herself from the role of a powerless woman. She falls in love anew, with Christoph, who dives into the sunken world of a reservoir and whom she has to kill if he leaves her. Petzold reimagines this legend and effortlessly tells the story of a life-or-death love. For this film, Petzold was influenced by Ingeborg Bachmann’s story “Undine geht” (Undine Goes).
