House President, Annita Demetriou, on Monday received students from primary schools participating in a European programme against school bullying.
The pupils were welcomed as ambassadors of the programme SAFER (SociAl competences and FundamEntal Rights for preventing bullying), by Demetriou, who also watched the inventive audio-visual material they created for raising awareness, an announcement by the House of Representatives, said.
Demetriou discussed with them how this phenomenon could be eliminated and noted that Parliament stands together with those who experience bullying and against the perpetrators, adding that there should be zero tolerance for such behaviour.
According to the announcement, the purpose of the SAFER programme is to develop and implement an innovative method for the prevention of school violence and bullying, with the aim of promoting inclusive education. The programme is based on strengthening social and civic competences and democratic values and fundamental rights, not only at the level of pupils (aged 10-14) and schools, but also at the community level.
