Disy leader Demetriou to endorse Natasa Pilides as party’s executive director

Disy leader Annita Demetriou on Tuesday said she will endorse former energy minister Natasa Pilides for the party’s executive director position.

“I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart my friend, Natasa Pilides, who trusts not only me personally, but also her political circuit, the Democratic Rally,” Demetriou said.

“It is my personal recommendation to the political bureau that she take over as the party’s next executive director,” she added.

The position will broadly involve the wider administrative portfolio of the party, she said, expressing the belief that Pilides “will contribute to the new effort we want for the future course of Disy”.

The party leader thanked the former minister “for the trust and acceptance” of her endorsement, saying that a formal recommendation was to follow with the political bureau, after which the necessary legal procedures will follow so Pilides can assume her new duties.

In her own statements, Pilides thanked Demetriou for her recommendation, which she called an honour.

“For me, realizing your vision, and that of the leadership of the Democratic Rally of tomorrow, is a primary concern, and something that must and can be implemented within very quick timeframes,” she said.

“When and if this proposal is approved in accordance to legislation and the party’s procedures, I am at your disposal and I am sure that together, we can take the Democratic Rally to an even higher point,” she said, “where its credibility will be seen, not only in from the policies and reforms it promotes, but also through the good administration and procedures and transparency that will define it as a modern organisation, and a model party for Cyprus and beyond”.
