With many pharmacies in Cyprus closed due to the traditional August holiday, long queues were formed outside open ones on Sunday and Monday following Cabinet’s decision to stop providing free coronavirus rapid tests.
And all this because presenting a Safepass in almost all places became mandatory as of August 1. This means that those not inoculated have to have a negative covid-19 test in hand every time they step out of their homes.
At the same time, private pharmacies are trying to recruit staff in order to be able to meet the increased demand of recent days.
This is what President of the Pancyprian Pharmaceutical Association Eleni Piera Isseyek told Philenews.
She also said pharmacists have asked for a meeting with the Health Minister to discuss the rapid test issue but also that of the winter flu vaccine.
The flu shot’s demand has been extremely high over past recent years with pharmacists having to keep waiting lists.
