The Deputy Ministry of Tourism considers feasible the further increase of tourist arrivals from Switzerland, with the number of arrivals from this country estimated to reach 80,000 this year.
According to an announcement by the Deputy Ministry, Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis held meetings in Zurich, Switzerland, a market that is moving upwards, with arrivals in 2023 estimated at 73,000, marking a 20% increase compared to 2022.
Specifically, Mr. Koumis met with senior officials of tourism organizations that run programs to Cyprus, where they exchanged views on the course of the Swiss market in 2023, the level of satisfaction of Swiss visitors, issues related to special forms of tourism, as well as the current air connection between the two countries in view of the current year.
During his visit, the Deputy Minister of Tourism also granted an interview to a well-known Swiss magazine specializing in tourism.
“The Swiss market is a market that every country, every tourist destination desires and targets, as it holds a high position among the countries that make up the mix of tourist flows,” Mr. Koumis said in his statements.
He also emphasized that the average per capita spending of Swiss visitors, which is significantly higher than the overall average per capita spending, in relation to the tourist profile of Swiss visitors, are the elements that make the Swiss market particularly interesting.
Following the contacts, he noted that taking into account the available airline seats, Mr. Koumis estimated that “a reasonable increase is feasible compared to the previous year.”
“If this happens, we expect to reach 80,000 arrivals, which will be the best performance of the last two decades in relation to the Swiss market,” he concluded.
