The foot-and-mouth outbreak in the free areas has grown to 41 infected units, with a new case confirmed in Oroklini in addition to the newly reported infections in Geri and Dali.
Veterinary Services have culled 15,000 animals to date, with another 15,000 pending slaughter at affected units.
Vaccination coverage remains uneven. Cattle vaccination stands at 76.43%, covering 295 of 386 units island-wide, while goats and sheep lag significantly behind at 41.19%, with 923 of 2,241 units vaccinated across Cyprus.
The new protection and surveillance zones centred on the Idalion livestock area encompass 196 cattle units, 570 goat and sheep units and 21 pig farms.
